Kylie completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business majoring in Public Relations at Queensland University of Technology. She was admitted as a barrister to the Supreme Court of Queensland at Brisbane in 2003. After admission as a barrister she commenced appearing on behalf of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions at only 23 years of age. Kylie appeared against senior counsel on variety of matters including serious trafficking offences, bail applications and murder.
Kylie spent a further 10 years as a Senior Federal Prosecutor at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
Whilst at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Kylie spent years working in a specialised team targeting the exploitation of children using the internet during which her advocacy skills were honed. Kylie gained significant knowledge into computer forensics. Kylie then worked on the large drug importation matters and steroids and as such is specialised in the importation of border controlled drugs and steroids.
These trials included applications to exclude evidence, confiscations and prosecuted under the Commonwealth Criminal Code, Customs Act and the Crimes Act. Following this she worked at Crown Law in Dangerous Prisoners and Parole and then spent time at the Director of Child Protection Litigation as an applicant lawyer.
Kylie has appeared in Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts throughout Queensland in both State and Commonwealth matters including some of the largest drug importation cases in the Australia, serious fraud, murder and sex offences.
Kylie has also worked in child protection and dangerous prisoners and can handle matters in these areas as well as appeals to the parole board.
After joining Private Practice as a solicitor in 2018 as a senior associate at firms she commenced using her experience to branch out into Family Law and decided to bring this wealth of knowledge and experience to culminate in what is now KA Criminal Law.
